Live in Harmony

All around the globe, voices are heard that life is misery, life is Dukha, life is a continuous struggle and life is not a bed of roses. Above all, life is followed by death which keeps no calendar. Death is stalking everyone on this earth day and night. None whether rich or poor, young or old, high or low and wise or ignorant is spared from its clutches. Then there is the dual throng of pleasure and pain, joy and sorrow, sun and shade, success and failure, rise and fall. Happiness is followed by misery. We desire happiness and good time all the time but it seldom happens.

Then how can we live in harmony?

In fact our true Being is all peaceful and blissful which is not at all affected by the vicissitudes of life. Through deep understanding about our Real Self, we can live in harmony. It is the adamantine wall of restless mind and obstinate ego that stands against the Blissful Self. Due to its existence. We do not realise our true nature and we consider ourselves the downtrodden creatures to be crushed under the cruel clutches of time, space and causation. Looking at the vast sea of suffering and sorrow all around us, the idea of BLISS with us seems to be easily said than experienced. It is the experience of every meditator that BLISS is there.

Through regular and persistent meditation, the adamantine wall of mind is razed and then we realise that we are eternal, full of BLISS and Knowledge. We are dreaming that we are a material body. it is a hallucination hat we are nothing but the congregation of few molecules which had to be disintegrated sooner or later. In the Bhagvad Gita Lord Krishna explained to Arjuna:-

All those who know truth in its reality

Know well that the real never ceases to be

That the unreal, in fact, does not exist

Such knowledge is gained by those who persist.

Wake up!

It is mind which does not allow us to live in harmony. An unbridled mind cannot distinguish between the good and the bad, the truth and falsehood and even between evil disguised as good and real good wrapped in appearance of austerity and difficulty. Mind creates confusion. Clarity is beyond its approach. Thus Milton says,

The mind is its own place and in itself

Can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.

All the attempts to live in harmony by controlling the boisterous mind go in vain because every control is a repression which leads to depression. Peace is not the nature of mind. It is in pieces. It is restless by nature compared to a maddened monkey rest lee or involvement. Meditation is ss by nature drunk with the wine of desire, stung by the Scorpio of jealousy at the success of others and posses with the demon of pride.

If we are to live in harmony, we are to go beyond. We have to drop the mind till we realise our own Being. Through regular and persistent Meditation, we realise that we are not the body. we are not the mind and we are not the thoughts. We are the seer of mind. We are the witness of mind and our thoughts. When we watch our thoughts moving in mind, we are cut off from our thoughts. Watching is a sword. Witness a thought moving in mind. Suddenly we realise that thought is there and we are here and there is no bridge left and the t disappears.

Mind possesses us because we forget to watch it. Learn it. It is Meditation. In Meditation. We are just to watch the mind continuously and persistently without any interference or involvement. Meditation is not mind-effort. In fact it is not an effort at all. We are to do nothing but watching and witnessing our thoughts persistently as an unbroken stream of oil poured from one vessel to another. If observer is 90 %, mind is 10 %, observer 99 %, mind 1 % & when observation witnessing is 100%, mind disappears, the road is empty, the screen of mind becomes completely empty & nothing moves.

We go beyond mind and live in harmony and the mind becomes our slave and we attain our master ship over mind. Mind as master is very dangerous and tears us apart and takes us away from our blissful and peaceful Being and throws into the valley of gloom and doom. Mere control of mind is just like a serpent which appears to be dead due to cold and hunger. Once is gets heat and feed, it hisses and even bights and kills. Once the fangs of the serpent are taken out, it does not matter whether it is awake or a sleep, conscious or unconscious, alive or dead. It is harmless.

In deep meditation, we realize our Self, our true Being and Bliss, mind remains at our back & call and will never stand in our way of living in harmony. Living in harmony means that nothing affects us whether it is joy or sorrow, pleasure or pain, happiness or misery. The truth is that life consists of dual throng of sun and shade, pleasure and pain. The dual throng does not allow us to live in harmony. Whereas good  days brings sun shine in our lives, dark clouds of misery & sorrow bring forth gloom & doom in our lives and throw us off the balance. In fact it is the mind which is overjoyed in good times and saddened in sorrow and misery.

Our true Being is unaffected by good or bad, joy or sorrow, fire or air. As lord Krishna says in Bhagvad Gita:-

नैनं छिन्दन्ति शस्त्राणि नैनं दहति पावकः ।
न चैनं क्लेदयन्त्यापो न शोषयति मारुतः ।।

No weapon can pierce the soul, no fire can burn it, no water moistens it, nor can wind wither it.

That is why Lord Krishna asked Arjuna to fight equalizing happiness and sorrow: -

सुख दुखे समे कृत्वा लाभालाभौ जयाजयौ ।
ततो युद्धाये युज्यस्व नैवं पापम्वाप्स्यासी ।।

Equalizing (by even mindedness) happiness and sorrow, profit and loss, victory and failure; so encounter thou the battle. Thus though will not acquire sin.

We are able to live in harmony if we attain awareness through regular and persistent Meditation which ought not to be a fragmented thing. It must be like breathing. Then become to the understanding of sorrows and suffering of our fellow beings. Gurudev Shri Swami Vishvas Ji recites:-

अपने दुख में रोने वाले, मुस्कुराना सीख ले।
दूसरों के दर्द में आँसू बहाना सीख ले ।।

Then we will definitely live in harmony.
