Real within and not without

A well known Saint, Rabia was looking for something in the street. Children asked with respect, "Good gracious madam, what are you looking for?" "A Needle" was the reply. Thereupon children asked again, "where have you lost it?" "At home" replied the saint. Children were astonished to hear that. In order to silence their anxiety, Rabia said that it was quite dark in the house and she could not see anything. So she was searching in the street in broad-day light. Instead of solving the problem, this reply increased their anxiety.

Then the saint explained, "Real happiness, Bliss lies within. Inside your internal world, is your own ever-lasting treasure but you are wasting all your energies to find the happiness in the ephemeral world because inside it is all darkness covered with the layers of ignorance."

Inspite of all the so-called progress and prosperity of civilization, modern man is becoming the victim of stress and strain. For a sound sleep which is the gracious grace of God, man has to depend upon the tranquilizers. Number of heart patients is increasing. Gurudev Swami Vishvas Ji says, "It is because the direction is wrong. World is not to be abandoned as a discarded bin. It has got its use for our growth, to realize the Real. It is a great gymnasium where we come to play our role and become strong. It is a great painting with all its good and evil, joy and sorrow, Sun and shade where you become the witness. At the same don't forget the painter, the Real who is behind this world, the painting. Once you realize Him who is behind the changeable universe and who is unchangeable this world will not longer be a mass of misery for you".

Again we make a fatal mistake and look for Him outside in the external world as Saint Rabia was looking for her needle. Instead, look inside where He dwells. All the holy places in the outer world are mere symbolic or reminders of the Almighty, the Divine that dwells within. But going to the innermost shrine of yourself, waking up and realizing your true self seems a little difficult in the beginning, yet very fruitful, refreshing, softening, loving. This is a moment of Reality of Existence. So, for the light of Blessedness and Divinity, look within. As it is said:-

दिल के आईने में है तस्वीरे यार
जब ज़रा गर्दन झुकाई देख ली

"You don't have to wander around from pillar to post to seek Him. He is within you - nay you are He."

मो को कहाँ ढूँढे रे बन्दे, मैं तो तेरे पास में,
खोजोगे तो मिलूँगा पल भर की तलाश में

"He is no where outside. Look Him not outside you. He is always with you. He is always with you. Look for Him within and you find Him now here. "

मैं और मेरा यार, दोनो इक बस्ती में बसते हैं,
किस्मत की क्या खूबी है, कि दर्शन को तरसते हैं।

"With me, my Beloved abides in my soul, yet I find Him not."

A great sermon of Swami Ji is that it is not bad to live and work in the world to make progress but it is had to cling to it. Be in the world but not of it. Boat should be in the water but let the water not enter the boat. Do remember the Creator while living in His creativity. Day and night remember, "I am not the body", "I am not the mind".

Meditation takes you to the Real one. You forget that you are body and you experience the Bliss which is your birthright. Once you feel that you are Self, you are Spirit, you gain glory because success comes out of strength. Strength is life, weakness is death. Strength comes out of the meditation on you inner Self; own Self that you are, the Soul, Spirit which knows no decay, no death.

We are extremely grateful to Gurudev Shri Swami Vishvas Ji who gave this great gift of Vishvas meditation which takes Self to Real Self, reminds us of our true nature which knows no sorrow or no misery.
