Meditation

Meditation is not Bookish knowledge. Meditation is a subject of Vibrations. Meditation is LIVE !

Meditation is God's grace, Guru's grace. It is to be shared, not to be sold. Meditation has no package deal. It is not a commercial commodity of the market. Meditation is a subject of Vibrations, not bookish. It cannot be achieved by merely reading books. Meditation is a practical subject.

Here we mention certain facts about meditation that will ensure a successful journey within.

 

  •  Never evaluate, judge or analyze your meditation. Expectation is a big hurdle in meditation. Seeking is the subject of the 'Future'. The entire purpose of meditation is to bring you into the 'Present'.

          As Swami Ji states, "The Past is gone, the Future is unknown. So act, act, act in Present."Vishvas Meditation opens up an eternity in the 'Now'.One must embrace the present moments rather than looking for future benefits. Meditation for the sake of meditation will help you to get rid of all unnecessary and negative thoughts.

  • Never compare your meditation with that of others. Everyone is a winner in meditation which is a highly personal journey of self-discovery. The purpose of meditation is not to accomplish things but rather to realize our true nature. Vishvas Meditation softens the "Winner/Loser" aspect of competition, guiding you towards self improvement.
  • Group meditation is better for beginners.

        Swami Ji explains, "Group meditation has more vibrations. There are various therapeutic benefits of group   meditation. However, that doesn not mean that you cannot meditate individually. Do not worry about things you cannot control."

  • When you meditate, a lot of vibrations come out of you. Using a mat/blanket made of pure silk or wool will retain these vibrations. Silk and wool have such properties. The mat should not be of any cotton or synthetic material and it should not be shared with others, as we all have different vibrations.
  • Keep your spine straight when you meditate, as it keeps the energy in circulation.
  • Breathing has no role in natural meditation. Vishvas Meditation is the easiest and most natural form of meditation where you simply make no efforts at all. Just keep breathing without paying any attention to your breaths.
  • Meditation at random times each day is better than no meditation, but it is not ideal either. A regular schedule is best for a calm mind and good health. In the beginning, you may not know why it's important to meditate regularly but soon you will realize what a wondrous and beneficial thing meditation is.

    Swami Vishvas Ji prescribes a regular meditation routine for people with health problems that are basically imbalances of internal forces.

  • If it is necessary for you to place a limit on the time you spend in meditation, then it is advisable to set an alarm, so that your thoughts are not preoccupied with time.
  • Do not get disappointed if you fall asleep during meditation. It just signifies that you were tired and probably required a nap to rest your mind. If the mind-body is in a tired state, meditation first dispels all the tiredness. This helps the meditator gain relaxation and develop interest in meditation. Then, meditation starts working actively. As you progress in meditation, you will gain awakening and energy.

Meditation energizes you, strengthens your willpower, gives you balance and suffuses you with bliss. It's a wonderful tonic for good health. Develop concentration and contemplation, right thinking and relaxation through Vishvas Meditation.

Meditation in its Simplest, Natural and Original form does not involve any concentration technique, any suppression, struggle, controlling, fighting or wrestling with the mind !

Swami Vishvas Ji explains, "True meditation is not concentration. Concentration is only a by-product of meditation. Meditation is the Source of concentration. Through meditation one can achieve all mind powers including concentration. However, concentration techniques alone will not be able to help you master your mind. They only give you temporary relaxation but they cannot bring about any major transformation in your attitude, behavior or mindset. The biggest example of this is the warrior 'Arjuna' in the Mahabharatha, who was at the peak of concentration. However, when it came to the final test, his concentration failed him miserably. Even he fell prey to his mind's dualities and became a victim of fear, escapism and deep depression. Concentration is limited. Concentration is just a solace. Meditation is the real solution."

Concentration is a practice, a mental exercise. Meditation is a process, a direct approach to the mind.

In order to understand this, we must first understand the different stages of the mind:

Cogitation

Thinking is undirected; try to go back from your thinking to where the thought came. Go back retrace the steps, and then you will see that another thought was there and that led to this and they are not logically connected. One thought leads to another without any direction from you. The thought itself leads to another because of association. There is no logical connection-only association in your mind.

Contemplation

It means thinking-directed thinking. We think but that is not contemplation. That thinking is undirected, vague, leading nowhere. Thinking becomes contemplation when it moves not through association, but is directed. The mind always tries to escape from one side path to another, from one bypath to another, to some association. You cut off all the side ways. On only one road, you direct your mind, then you bracket out all associations. This is called contemplation. As a scientist, a logician, a mathematician, a poet, a musician working on something, say any problem, are in contemplation. Many things from the sideways will attract, but he does not allow his mind to move any where, mind moves in one line, directed. This is contemplation. Science is based on contemplation, it is logical and rational, it is not absurd.

Concentration

Then there is concentration, to stay at one point, being at one point, not allowing the mind to move at all. It is not thinking, it is not contemplation. In thinking, in ordinary thinking, mind moves like a madman. In contemplation the madman is led, directed, he cannot escape anywhere. In concentration the mind is not allowed to move; in ordinary thinking, it is allowed to move only somewhere. In concentration it is not allowed to move. It is only allowed to be at one point. The entire energy, the whole movement sticks to one point. Yoga is concerned with concentration. The yogic mind has its thinking focused, fixed at one point; no movement is allowed.

Meditation

In ordinary thinking, mind is allowed to move anywhere; in contemplation, it is allowed only in one direction, all other directions are cut off. In concentration, it is not allowed to move even in one direction, it is allowed only to be on one point. And then comes, Meditation. In Meditation, mind is not allowed at all.

Meditation is 'no-mind', not even concentration is allowed. Mind itself is not allowed to be, that is why meditation cannot be grasped by the mind. Up to concentration, mind has reach, an approachable reach. Mind can understand concentration, but not meditation. Mind is not allowed at all really in meditation. In ordinary thinking, all directions are open; in concentration, only one point is open-no directions. In meditation even that point is not open, even that point is taken away. Mind is not allowed to be. Thinking is an ordinary state of mind and meditation is the highest possibility. The lowest one is ordinary thinking-association, and the highest, the peak, is meditation i.e. no-mind.



Difference between Concentration and Meditation

Concentration is Control, a forced practice. Meditation is Surrender, a natural process!

In concentration, you are running away from thoughts. You try to focus at some point, object, image, breath or mantra so that you can escape your thoughts for some time. As long as you stay focused on your object of attention, you feel relaxed. However, the moment you come back to the outer world, the thoughts again surround you, engulf you, having their influence over you- good, bad, ugly. The game of the mind continues as ever before.

Meditation on the other hand, teaches you to face your thoughts directly. In meditation, you do not escape your thoughts. Because, there is actually no escape! You watch your thoughts instead- as a witness, an observer. Just as you watch all the moving traffic as a bystander, you do not run after or chase any vehicle. Similarly you do not chase any thought. You do not even try to stop any thought. You do not even try to control or concentrate the mind anywhere. No struggles with the mind. Instead just watch your mind as a non-doer, as a non-judge, as a non-participator. As the watching progresses - all thoughts begin to dissolve automatically and the mind begins to surrender naturally – developing amazing balance!

Concentration is a task, an effort. Meditation is total rest, complete relaxation.

Concentration is tough, difficult, complicated, energy consuming. It is temporary. Why? Because concentration is against the very nature of the mind! It is against the mind's nature to focus or concentrate at one point, object, image, word or place for long. The mind is nothing but a bundle of thoughts. The monkey like mind keeps jumping from one branch to the other, from one thought to the other. So concentration techniques lead to wrestles and struggles with the mind.
Meditation on the other hand is total relaxation, total rest. Meditation is not a practice. Meditation is a process. It is a process of non-doing where you do not try to control, suppress or focus your mind anywhere. Instead, you simply watch all its doings, its acts, its pranks, its play - as an observer - without judging, analyzing or condemning it. As you continue to watch neutrally, the mind starts coming to rest automatically.

Concentration is a solace. Meditation is the Solution!

Concentration does not let you rise above the dualities of the mind, rather it further strengthens the mind's habit of doing. As long as the mind is focused at a point or place, you experience a little relaxation. But the minute you get up from concentration, the relaxation does not last. There is no permanent improvement in your conduct. Why? As long as you are giving your mind something to do, something to focus on- be it on any point, object, breath or mantra - these are merely mental exercises that keep you within the domain of the mind. And the domain of the mind is full of ups & downs, highs & lows. Concentration that comes from the mind can never bring about neutrality and balance towards external circumstances. Meditation does !

In Meditation, as you watch your mind directly, as a non-doer, an observer, a neutral energy - all thoughts begin to fade automatically, the past and future begins to dissolve naturally - and you start discovering the 'Beyond Mind' state which is full of present moments - where all powers exist! You discover real joy, great balance, abundant bliss and amazing strength that is not dependent on any concentration technique or method. These powers stay for they are unconditional and non-dependant!

Concentration is temporary. Meditation is permanent.

All concentration techniques or methods such as focusing on an imaginary point, object, image, breath or mantra provide you concentration temporarily as it gets utilized, withered and eventually faded with the passage of time.
Meditation on the other hand is the real source of concentration. Your 'third eye' is the reservoir of all mind powers. As you watch the mind's play directly, without getting involved in it, the 'third eye' comes into play. Natural Meditation which is simply the process of watching within, enhances all mind powers automatically- such as concentration power, contemplation power, will power, memory power and fitness power etc.

Meditation - the simple process of non doing - does wonders for you!
In the outer world, we keep 'doing' something or the other
But when we enter our inner world, we need to stop all doings
Not even concentration
We just need to BE!

Swami Vishvas Ji explains, "We are all blessed with the third eye to look within. To watch is our true nature. We are born with it. Every human being is born with outer eyes closed, witnessing inside. Watching is the only process in the world that requires no effort. It is natural. It is not a state of doing. It is a state of being."

When you distance from all thoughts, good, bad and ugly, when you simply watch them as a non doer – thoughts begin to lose their energy. All thoughts multiply using your energy, when you participate. You are the energy house. When you choose to withdraw, the thoughts become lifeless. They cannot multiply or even move any forward. If you continue to remain a witness, all thoughts begin to fade in no time!

This simple process of non-doing, of looking within directly, is more effective than any concentration technique in the world. If thoughts carry you away, come back and start watching your thoughts over and over again. This is the very process of meditation. Thoughts might try to engulf you, you keep coming back and start watching them as a neutral energy.

As you continue to remain a witness, you develop neutrality. This neutrality helps you tremendously in the outer world. It helps you develop such deep relaxation, tranquility and peace that is unshakeable by external distractions. Moreover, the energy that was being consumed by unnecessary thoughts so far, begins to get free. Now this freed energy begins to rise through the silver chord in your backbone, bringing all chemicals and hormones into balance, and you begin to experience health, joy, energy and peace like never before! No concentration technique can bring about such neutrality and mental strength.

Vishvas Meditation develops all mind powers such as concentration power, contemplation power, will power, memory power, fitness power, decision making power, intuitive powers, pro-activeness, right thinking, clarity, compassion, kindness, love and peace in abundance. Most importantly, this simple most and natural meditation process brings about the transformation or self-improvement that stays - that lasts – since it is a Beyond Mind state!

It is the Mind that wavers, Concentration wavers, Meditation does not !!!
